Hi folks!

By now you’ve seen a few things sent home like our learning about Multiples Intelligences, addition and subtraction with regrouping packets and numbers in expanded forms. I will be sending home a memo and word sheet of spelling words for Grade 5 on Monday. I am still picking away at reading with your children. Once I have read with everyone, a page will be sent home along with a book at their level.

In the upcoming week we have October’s Fire Safety focus and the Terry Fox Walk on Friday @1:45. Donations can be accepted in class with cash or online (Terry Fox School Run | Terry Fox School Run). Our school goal is $2000! We also have Orange shirt day on Tuesday with an assembly, a topic we mention and explore in great depth in grade 5 (not just a one day chat).

Hi folks!

One week down already! Thank you for all the forms and the prompt return. There are still a few that haven’t sent their $5 for the agenda. Hoping the agendas arrive soon so we can start using them!

Now that permission forms have been returned for those students in afterschool activities like cross-country or soccer, there is no need to send a note each day for pickups. I will assume that a drive has been arranged for after practice or pickup for cross-country meets (most Wednesdays)/soccer games. Should they not be attending, please let me know. If you prefer to write a note for your peace of mind or that of your child’s, that’s okay too!

We have a few students who joined tech club too. That group meets at lunch time and does not apply to afterschool pickups.

Homework – some students have English levelled reading books in their homework folder to read at home. I will continue to test as they progress. Also, some students opted to bring home a packet of addition and subtraction with regrouping. They are due at the end of the day Thursday and is a revision from Grade 4. Please do not help them with the work or mark their work. If they require extra help, write a note where you helped. Thanks!

Lastly, meet the teacher is this Thursday, September 17th @6pm. They go over school procedures etc in the cafeteria if you are interested in joining.
