Seven Mi’kmaq Territories

In social studies, students learned about the seven Mi’kmaq territories in eastern Canada. Working in small groups, they used playdough to create detailed maps of one of the seven territories. Afterward, they built elevation maps out of clay and painted them to represent their specific Mi’kmaq territory. Through this creative, collaborative project, students deepened their understanding of geography and Indigenous culture while working effectively together.

Remembrance Day Art

4B worked together beautifully to create meaningful Remembrance Day art for the gymnasium. Using tissue paper, they crafted stunning 3-D poppies that showcased their creativity and teamwork. These thoughtful pieces added a special touch to our Remembrance Day ceremony and helped everyone reflect on the occasion’s significance.

Electricity!

During a recent science activity, students had the chance to use dominoes to model how electricity flows in a circuit. They tapped into their creativity to build impressive structures that demonstrated cause-and-effect, just like in real electrical systems. This hands-on exploration helped make complex science concepts fun and memorable!

Fall Pumpkins

In art class, students explored a variety of creative techniques while making vibrant oil pastel drawings of fall pumpkins. They learned how to blend colors smoothly, create highlights and shadows, and use light and dark tones to add depth and realism to their artwork. These hands-on lessons helped students develop their artistic skills and appreciation for the possibilities of oil pastels.

Halloween Haunts

Our class celebrated Halloween with a variety of exciting activities that had everyone laughing and learning. Students used their senses to guess the mysterious items in our bubbling cauldron, competed in fast-paced Halloween “Minute to Win It” challenges, and showed off their singing skills during karaoke. The festivities wrapped up with a lively dance party in the cafeteria, making it a Halloween to remember!
