Class Dojo

In our classroom, we use Class Dojo as a reward system to reinforce positive behaviour. Students earn points for modelling the school values, such as showing respect, being responsible, and being safe. These points contribute to individual and class rewards, motivating students to make positive choices every day. Class Dojo also provides a way for you to stay informed about your child’s achievements and classroom news, ensuring we work together to support your child’s success.

I am sending home an instruction sheet tonight that explains how to sign up for Class Dojo if you are interested. I have attached a picture below with a QR code for students to log in to Class Dojo Islands and participate in classroom activities.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Sincerely,

Miss B

Social Studies

Students explored the importance of laws and learned about the people and groups who advocate for new laws in our society. To deepen their understanding, students participated in an anonymous classroom voting exercise, experiencing firsthand how decisions can be made fairly. They also created their own ‘fair/unfair’ paddles, which they used to actively engage in discussions about various laws, rights, and responsibilities. This interactive approach fostered critical thinking, civic awareness, and respectful debate.

Map Making

Students worked together to create a hands-on map of New Brunswick using playdough. As they shaped the province, they identified and marked the locations of Indigenous communities within our province, as well as the St. Lawrence River. This collaborative activity fostered teamwork, geographic awareness, and respect for the cultural significance of these communities and natural landmarks.

Diary Writing

Students kicked off the school year by writing creative diary entries, reflecting on their summer adventures and imagining life as a crayon. Through these engaging activities, students practiced essential writing skills, including organizing ideas, expressing emotions, and using descriptive language. This fun and thoughtful exercise encouraged self-expression and set the stage for a year full of creative learning.

Minute to Win It!

During our first week in Math, we played some “Minute to Win It” games. These quick and exciting challenges helped us get to know each other, build teamwork, and practice problem-solving skills, all while having fun!
